Recipe: Curry Basmati Rice
Aromatic Indian spices, along with roasted garlic and onion make a wonderful
savory side dish or a base to your favorite curry dish.
2 cups water
2 Tbls. butter OR olive oil
1 cup basmati rice (standard white rice can also be used)
1/4 cup Oriental
"Raw Men" Seasoning
~ In a saucepan over medium-high heat, bring
water and butter/oil to a boil.
~ Add rice and seasoning to pan, cover tightly, and reduce heat to low.
~ Simmer for 20 minutes, undisturbed, and then turn off heat.
~ Allow to rest for 5 minutes and then fluff with a fork before serving.
Optional Additions (add to the pan at the same time as rice and seasoning):
1/2 cup fresh or frozen peas
1/2 cup matchstick carrots
1/2 cup cooked, chopped chicken
1/4 cup golden raisins
