Traditional green salsa made with tomatillos serves as
a great condiment to Tex-Mex dishes or even by itself as a chip dip.
1 Lb. tomatillos, husked
1 cup water
dried minced onion
1 Tbls. dried
1 1/2 tsp.
salt (or to taste)
1 tsp. - 1 Tbls.
green serrano chili pepper powder (depending on heat level desired)
1 tsp. dried oregano
1/2 tsp. lime juice
powder or 2 tsp. lime juice
dried minced garlic
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
~ Place all ingredients in a 2-quart saucepan and bring to a boil over high
~ Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until the tomatillos are soft, about
~ Using a blender or stick blender, puree the mixture until smooth.
