Our dried porcini mushrooms have a distinct
flavor that many find addicting. They are an economic substitute for fresh
mushrooms, as the flavor is intense and concentrated; it takes fewer porcinis to
match the flavor of many more fresh button mushrooms. Add porcini mushrooms to cream sauces, chowders and soups, casseroles,
and our favorite - mushroom ravioli. Dried mushrooms have been a popular cooking staple
throughout Europe and Asia for many centuries, but only recently so in the
United States. They are shelf-stable, lightweight, and take up little
space in your pantry.
