It's never been easier to make perfect fried green
tomatoes! This mix is a delicate blend that coats well, enhances, yet allows the
flavor of the vegetable being cooked to come through. This batter can be used on
other vegetables such as zucchini, eggplant, squash, dill pickles (yes, fried
pickles!), okra and more.

Ingredients: corn flour, corn meal, wheat flour, malted barley flour, niacin,
iron, thiamine mononitrate (vitamin B1), riboflavin (vitamin B2), folic acid,
buttermilk solids, salt, sodium acid pyrophosphate, sodium bicarbonate, corn
starch, monocalcium phosphate, baking soda. Contains

Recipe: Perfect Fried Green Tomatoes
Makes 'em even better than mama did!
1 package Whistle Stop
Fried Green Tomato Batter Mix
1 to 1 1/4 cup cold water
vegetable oil, as needed for frying
4 medium green tomatoes, sliced into 1/4" thick slices (see Notes, below)
seasoned salt, as needed
~ In a medium bowl, whisk together batter
mix and water until a smooth consistency forms (use less water for a thicker
crust and more for thinner one).
~ Heat oil in a skillet to 375 degrees. If using a deep fryer, only heat oil to
~ Dip tomato slices into batter, one at a time, and then immediately drop each
slice into hot oil. Cook until
golden brown, turning if necessary to brown on both sides.
~ Remove fried tomatoes from oil and drain on a cooling rack.
~ Season with salt as desired.
Notes: Use only very form green tomatoes with no red or pink on them. Can also be used with sliced zucchini, eggplant,
squash, and mushrooms, as well as on dill pickles and hot dogs (to make corn dogs).
