Szechuan Peppercorns, Whole, in a Spice Jar (1.06 oz.)
Szechuan Pepper is not a true pepper; it is the berries of a small ash tree which grows in the Sichuan Province of southwestern China. Also known as Fagara, Szechwan Pepper, and Sichuan Pepper. For best results, toast and grind before using. It has a spicy, woody, and a delightful citrus aroma that gives a tingling sensation to the tip of the tongue. Szechwan peppercorns are an essential ingredient in Chinese five spice powder.
We mix them into our black peppercorns in the grinder to add a little heat.
